The TIPS program has always maintained a good working relationship with its State and Tribal partners through the TIPS technical training program and associated software licensing schemes. In numerous cases, TIPS personnel have assisted in various efforts by bringing technical expertise in Remote Sensing, Thermal Imagery, GIS, GPS, and Hydrology related areas.
The TIPS program offers technical assistance to coal producing States, Tribes and other OSM offices in the disciplines of Geology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, GIS, GPS, Engineering design and software. Projects included Title IV or V work with many of these projects involving several TIPS software packages and personnel.
