Action:   TMD will be acquiring OTT.  Changes will be forthcoming.

Action:  New GIS Position will be Janine Ferarese.  TIPS is also hiring an administrative assistant who will be taking notes at TIPS telecons and TIPS meetings.

Status Reports

Discussion:  TIPS National Team meeting – [Winters]
Action:  Looking for general comments.  The meeting will be held July 17 – 21.  Location has not been established yet.  Give comments to Bill Winters or Karyn Evans.

Discussion:  Steering Committee Meeting – [Uranowski]
Action:  Lois Uranowski needs agenda items.  The meeting will be held in Boston on May 8 – 11.

Discussion:  Equipment Survey (Customer Wish List) [Welsh]
Action:  The survey is completed and will go out after FY05 is distributed.  Time frame:  approximately 3 weeks.

Discussion:  National Surface Mining Geospatial Committee and “EGIM”-briefing [Card]
Action:   Bill Card reported on recent geospatial activities of interest to OSM. Billie Clark is representing OSM at the inaugural meeting of the Core Modernization Blueprint Team (CMBT) for the DOI's Geospatial Modernization Blueprint being held today in Washington, DC.  This team is sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Programs Office (NGPO) and the DOI Enterprise Architecture (IEA).  The team will be working to document existing geospatially-related architecture information; develop target enterprise architectures for business processes, data standards, authoritative sources, technical standards, and services; and develop a series of recommendations to improve the overall cost effectiveness and utility of enterprise geospatial information and technologies in service of the DOI strategic plan.

The National Surface Mining Geospatial Committee (NSMGC) is planning to meet on February 28 - March 1 in Santa Fe, NM.  This meeting will plan and organize NSMGC activities for the remainder of FY 2006.  Activities under consideration include conducting a brief survey of the state and tribal regulatory programs to determine GIS development status and needs, obtaining training for primary GIS contacts in Microsoft SQL Server, conducting a FGDC workshop to set initial standards for mining-related spatial datasets, hosting the first national meeting of all primary GIS contacts from state and tribal regulatory programs, and conducting an ArcSDE for SQL Server training class.  TIPS Service Managers will be asked to help collect data for the survey.

A meeting of the OSM Core Leadership Team (CLT) will be held on January 24-25 in Washington, DC.  During this meeting, OSM senior management will be briefed on geospatial activities in the DOI and OSM.  Billie Clark will use Microsoft Live Meeting and a teleconference line to give a PowerPoint presentation from Denver.  Bill Card will participate from Knoxville.  The briefing will discuss DOI EGIM, CMBT, and NSMGC.  Teleconferences with OSM managers were held on January 11th and 18th to discuss these topics and solicit comments prior to briefing CLT.

Paul Behum:  Rockware license agreement doesn’t mention keyserver.  He will         discuss with Mike Benavides.
Mike Dunn:  3 AR staff and 1 or more CHFO staff to attend 2006 National USFWS GIS Workshop, National Conservation Training Center (NCTC), Shepherdstown, WV. March 7-10, 2006.  Workshop will cover many topics and software that are same as TIPS.
Diane Osborne:  She is developing a list for imaging needs for additional funding.  If you have anything, please get it to her.
Bob Welsh:  Explorer tablets are working fine.
Mike Benavides:  Keying procedures need to be developed.  Also Sharepoint procedures need to be developed.
Cathy McNish:  Sharepoint procedures are developed and located in the WR Operations Manual.
Mary Greene:   NHD workshop will be held in Denver in early February.  Inter Agency Hydrology will be held in April.  January 12 I attended the Subcommittee on Hydrology meeting in Washington, DC - TIPS / OSM is considering membership on this committee.  Information gained from the meeting includes an NHDPlus  workshop will be held in Denver in early February.   Also, this subcommittee is sponsoring the  Third Federal Interagency Hydrologic Modeling Conference in Reno April 2-6, 2006 which I hope to attend.
Jo Gault:  She will be in Pittsburgh next week helping teach TIPS underground mine mapping course.
